Vacation Planning Websites Performance

Tags: , , ,

We would like to share with you an interesting statistic about the average uptime of major holiday booking websites. The following information was aggregated over the course of 45 days, where all sites were tested every 15 minutes, from 3 different locations.

This year none of the tested websites were able to hold up to the heavy load 100% of the time. The data was collected through complete web transaction from an End User’s point of view – going to the Home page, choosing a destination and a vacation period, browsing the search results and selecting a hotel.

While the websites were able to function properly from 99.461% to 99.989% of the time, a good part of them took too long to load. Some of the sites took 3 times as long to load compared to 2011.

The Performance and Uptime Reports program is an effort to keep the general public and the Internet community informed about the performance of specific websites and the challenges their webmasters, owners and operators are facing on a daily basis, especially when the web traffic intensifies due to some special events through the year.
